Enjoying Healthier Food On The Go

I travel constantly for work, which hasn't been great for my waistline. After eating in all of the best restaurants in the world for a few years, I realized that I had gained around 30 pounds. Fortunately, I was able to work with a health coach who taught me some valuable skills for my way of life. She taught me how to recognize unhealthy foods and swap them out for better options--even in foreign hotels. The results were incredible. I was able to lose weight while enjoying my travel adventures. My blog is for anyone out there who wants to enjoy healthier food on the go.

3 Tips For Getting In Shape During Your Lunch Breaks At Work

by Margie Harris

Do you have a bad habit of eating unhealthy food during your one hour lunch break at work? If you are trying to get fit and want to change your bad habit, there are several things that you can do to get your body in shape. Take a look at this article to discover a few helpful tips about staying in shape when on lunch breaks during each workday.

1. Take a Little Time to Exercise

You can do a few jumping jacks, push-ups or even jump rope for a while to burn calories. Simply find a remote area outside your workplace to fit in a short exercise break at least an hour after you have consumed your lunch. You can fit the exercises in during one of your short breaks that are commonly given to full-time employees after the long lunch hour. Even sitting in your vehicle and swinging your arms back and forth is good for burning a few unwanted calories.

2. Walk to Restaurants Rather Than Driving

If there are any restaurants near your workplace you like to have lunch in, opt for walking to pick your lunch up instead of driving your vehicle. Walking is one of the best ways to burn calories and is a great habit to get into. You will eventually start to feel more energetic each day, which can help you feel better about going to the gym after work. Once you have begun to regularly walk to restaurants during your lunch break, you can then try jogging or running to reach your destinations. No matter if you choose to walk, jog or run, always make sure that you swing your arms (possibly while holding dumbbells) during the process to burn even more calories.

3. Opt for Healthy Fast Food Menu Items

One of the common healthy food items sold at many restaurants is salad. Try to incorporate a salad in your lunch as much as possible. You can also choose a healthy meat like fish to go along with the salad. The great thing about fish is that it contains omega-3 fatty acids, which is a great way to burn extra calories. Visiting a restaurant that sells salmon is ideal because it is a fish that contains a large amount of omega-3 fatty acids. The reason omega 3 fatty acids is beneficial to your health is because it can aid in keeping your heart, joints and many other areas of your body healthy. Figure out which restaurants around your workplace can provide healthy meals so you can start eating healthy on your lunch breaks as soon as possible.
