Enjoying Healthier Food On The Go

I travel constantly for work, which hasn't been great for my waistline. After eating in all of the best restaurants in the world for a few years, I realized that I had gained around 30 pounds. Fortunately, I was able to work with a health coach who taught me some valuable skills for my way of life. She taught me how to recognize unhealthy foods and swap them out for better options--even in foreign hotels. The results were incredible. I was able to lose weight while enjoying my travel adventures. My blog is for anyone out there who wants to enjoy healthier food on the go.

3 Tips For Choosing The Food To Have Catered To A Children's Party

by Margie Harris

If you are planning a big party for a child, then you want to make sure that there is going to be some tasty food involved. Rather than stressing about making all of this food yourself, you can instead contact a caterer ahead of time and plan to have them bring all of the food to the party. If you aren't sure exactly what foods to get, this article will help you out by providing 3 great tips for choosing the food to have catered to a children's party.

Choose Finger Foods

Since the children will likely be running around and playing in between bites of their food, it is a great idea to choose finger foods. This also makes it easier overall because there won't be any need for silverware. Finger foods such as pizza, pigs in a blanket, sandwiches, rolls, cut up fruit and vegetables, chips, cookies, and cupcakes will all be a big hit with the children. They will also be super easy for the caterers to serve and for the children to eat.

Keep It Simple

Perhaps the best thing that you can do when choosing foods for a children's party is to keep it simple. Rather than choosing the pizza with the olives, peppers, and onions, choose the cheese and pepperoni pizzas. Children, for the most part, enjoy simple foods that don't have unknown flavors or textures that they don't like. Dipping sauces are great for children, but once again stick to the basics, such as ketchup, mustard, ranch, and barbecue sauce. Dipping sauces are also great for getting children to eat their vegetables when they otherwise wouldn't

Check For Any Food Allergies

It is a good idea to call the parents of all of the children who will be attending the party and ask them if their children have any food allergies that you need to be aware of. If any of them do, be sure to have the catering company prepare some special foods for these particular children so that they can eat the food at the party and will feel included. Also, be sure that these children are able to eat in an area where their food isn't going to be contaminated by the other foods that they can't have. This doesn't mean that they can't sit by the other children, just that they need to sit in an area with children who are not eating the foods to which they are allergic.
